Mathavan

R. Madhavan, also called Maddy is a prominent regional Indian film actor, a game show host, a mobile game character and an active PETA campaigner. Madhavan started to act in Hindi television serials and appear in advertisements and commercials before he started his film acting career. He also currently acts in regional industries across India with the Tamil film industry being his main focus. Madhavan has acted in Hindi films, English films, Telugu films, Malayalam cinem, the Kannada film industry and the Bengali film industry. Madhavan is known by his fans as the “Chocolate Hero”.

Madhavan’s breakout role as a leading actor came two years later after his film career began with 2000’s Alaipayuthey by director, Mani Ratnam, which he became a pin-up boy after Madhavan’s performance as Karthik. The film, gave him a solid foundation to build his career and several other films he has starred in, have become blockbusters in South India, due to this he also built up a prominent market for Madhavan’s films in Bollywood and in overseas markets.

As a seasoned actor, he began to take on more varied roles and projects, including another Mani Ratnam film, Aayitha Ezhuthu where he portrayed the gangster, Inba. While filming for Ramji Londonwale, he caught the eye of UTV, and became a game host in, Deal Ya No Deal, but it only lasted for one series. R. Madhavan is a prominent figure in India’s entertainment business.

Madhavan’s parents are Ranganathan and Saroja and his sister named Devika . his father, Ranganathan is an ex-army man. Madhavan’s mother, Saroja Ranganathan is a homemaker. Madhavan’s youngest sister, Devika is an aspiring model. In 1988, Madhavan was chosen to represent India as its cultural ambassador from his college to Canada after his graduation.
At the age of 22, Madhavan was awarded the Maharashtra Best Cadet enabling him to make a trip with three others as MCC Cadets to England, because of this honour, Madhavan received training with the Royal Army, Navy and the Air Force but it was to no avail.

Madhavan then initiated a ten-day crash course on Public Speaking course; this is where he met his future wife Saritha. Madhavan is married to Saritha, a former air hostess whom he married after 3 years of courtship. Madhavan and Saritha have a son Vedaant who was born in 2006. Madhavan who is a self-confessed animal lover and an advertiser for PETA, personally owns two dogs, named Simbha and Princess and he also owns a parrot.

Madhavan has recently moved property near the Boat Club area of Chennai from his rented house in Kilpauk.Madhavan shares great rapport with several experienced actors in the industry especially Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan whom both have worked with Madhavan in several projects each.Madhavan is well known for his vegetarianism and has advertised several brands.

Silabarasan

Silambarasan Rajendran is a prominent Tamil film actor,film director, playback singer and song writer. He is known fondly by his fans as Simbhu and Little Super Star.

Simbhu was a popular face in Indian television even before he made his maiden film debut. He acted in Tamil films, as a junior artist in projects like Monisha En Monalisa, Shabash Babu, Rajadi Rajavan, and Thiruvalla in minor roles. Simbhu’s debut in movies as a hero came in the form of Kaadhal Azhavitazhallai, a Tamil language movie also debuting Charmi, a popular Telugu actress. The film, Kaadhal Azhavitazhallai, was highly hyped but the film flopped at the box-office and it was followed by Dhum and Kuthu with Rakshitha and Ramya respectively. These films also flopped at the box-office and criticism was heaped on Simbhu for his self-acclaimed title of Little Superstar and his deliberate copying of actions which were normally used by the Tamil superstar, Rajinikanth.

The move Alai with Trisha Krishnan followed, it became his first film to run over 50 days at a cinema but once again he faced controversy due to some scenes between Trisha Krishnan and himself. Simbhu next film, Kovil with Sonia Agarwal was an average grosser at the box-office. He then took a year’s break to concentrate on Manmadhan project, which he wrote the screenplay for. This move starred Jyothika, Mandira Bedi and Yana Gupta opposite him and the film became a runaway triumph at the box-office breaking many records especially in Madurai and it ran for 275 days in Kollywood. The move earned rave reviews and changed many peoples’ minds about Simbhu’s career. Simbhu next film, Thotti Jaya also was a big hit, in which he had paired with Gopika. For Thotti Jaya Simbhu sported a black beard in the role of an orphaned gangster who finds love.

Saravana was released in 2006 and after the success of Manmadhan, he paired up with Jyothika to act in the film directed by K.S. Ravikumar. The film was a hit despite being released with Paramasivan and Aadhi, which it eventually ran for 100 days. Simbhu decided to turn director in Vallavan, which has become the most anticipated film of the year of 2006 and it was released on Diwali 2006 and stared Nayantara, Reema Sen and Sandhya alongside himself. Simbhu has also written the screenplay and has also sung 2 songs in the film.

Simbhu will act in Aezhumazhai vs Chitra with Asin Thottumkal in a forthcoming project in 2007. Simbhu was also a part of Mani Ratnam’s stage show, Netru, Indru, Naalai alongside many other co-stars. Simbu as shown in the wallpaper for the film, Manmadhan ‘Simbu’ Silambarasan was born to a famous Kollywood couple, T. Rajendar and Usha, they were both actors. Simbu’s has a younger brother, Kuralarasan who appears as a child actor in several films.

Simbu’s sister, Illakya, is a college student at Loyola College, where he had also completed his education.At Ashram school, Simbu studied with the Tamil actor, Rajinikanth’s daughter, Aishwarya. Both were rumoured to be in an affair before she disbanded with him. Aishwarya later married, rival actor, Dhanush. Simbu was apparently not invited to the wedding and was left fuming over this. Manmadhan dealt with the story of lovers cheating and Simbu refused to deny claims that it was based around his childhood love, Aishwarya and no comment was made from either side.

Dhanush

Venkat Prabhu is a popular Indian actor who appears in Kollywood films under the screen name Dhanush.At the age of 20, he made his Kollywood debut in the film Thulluvadho Illamai in 2002, which was directed by his brother Selvaraghavan. This movie was a surprisingly huge success and started his career in the industry. This was followed by Kadhal Kondein and Thiruda Thirudi (2003), both of which turned out to be successful at the box office. With these continuous string of blockbusters his salary skyrocketed to Rs.30 million per film.

However succeeding films tumbled one by one and his career seemed to be have come to a standstill until the release of Pudhupettai. His action venture Sullan (2004) started good but then turned out to be a box office failure. His other films Pudhukottaiyill Irindhu Saravanan, Dreams (2004), Adhu Oru Kana Kaalam (2005) did poorly at the box office. After a long spell of low-budget films, he came back with the Pudhupettai (Dhoolpet in Telugu) which was again directed by his brother but that flopped. However he came back with a blockbuster in 2005 with, Thiruvilayadal Arambam. His upcoming films are Parattai alias Azhagu Sundaram and Desiya Nedunchalai.

Dhanush admits that his busy schedule and clash of dates, compounded by his fracture which kept him in bed for some weeks, had created some date problems. But promised the actor, 'Henceforth, I will act in only one film at a time. And I'll sign a new film only after I've completed the old one." The hero also added that he would make sure that his films would have varied themes. "Sullan is the first total action-oriented film I am doing", says Dhanush.

Some of the producers have taken him to court, there were complaints about his not keeping to his earlier commitments. Why were the producers turning against him? Claiming that he also fails to understand why he is being targeted, Dhanush says, "I don't understand why it's happening to me, and I don't think I have the maturity or the position to comment on their action. All I can say is that it's my bad time!"

Claiming that he's not signed any new films recently, Dhanush also brushed aside the accusation that he's demanding a few crores as remuneration. "I've never ever gone and asked anyone to pay me crores," insists the actor. Dhanush's lean frame has at times elicited negative comments from certain quarters. But the actor is unfazed. "I'm 22, and I'm playing roles that suit my age. And for that, I think this physique is enough."With so many young debutants entering the field, who does Dhanush think he has to compete with? He responds with, "I do not have the time or the inclination to think about all this. I am not competing with anybody. Nor do I have the desire to be the No 1 hero."

The actor has been labelled as south India's Bruce Lee. But not very comfortable with the label, Dhanush says, "I've asked my fans to defer from giving me such titles."

Actor Partibhan had mentioned at a function about Dhanush's girl friend in the US, and advised the actor to concentrate on his career and not be distracted by matters of the heart. But Dhanush brushes aside the girl friend matter and claims that there's no basis to the rumour.The actor's other films have been set aside so that he can complete 'Sullan'. Directed by Ramana (who directed 'Thirumalai') and produced by Salem Chandrasekhar, it has debutante Sindhu Thulani as his leading lady.

Ajithkumar

Ajith Kumar (Tamil: அஜித் குமார்) (born in Hyderabad, India on May 1, 1971) is an Indian film actor. He began his career doing various jobs in Andhra Pradesh, while also attending a theatre for stage plays, to follow his dream to act. After three years of acting in minor roles and small-budget ventures in Indian films, Ajith Kumar gained the Indian cinema’s attention in 1995 by playing the role of Jeeva in Aasai, his first blockbuster and since then he has acted in over forty Indian films, with his main option being the Tamil Cinema industry. He is nicknamed Ultimate Star by his fans and credited as such in his movies. He has high fan followings in the Indian subcontinent, Europe and The Far East. Ajith Kumar, before retiring in 2005, was a motor car racer, taking part in Formula 3 championships for the minor outfit, Mango Racing. He was in 2004, India’s third best driver after Narain Karthikeyan and Karun Chandok.

An accomplished dramatic actor and celebrity, he has won several awards at a regional award including State Awards from Tamil Nadu. Ajith Kumar performs predominantly in leading roles in high-budget and major studio films, ranging from romantic comedies and drama to science fiction and action thrillers. His most popular films include Kadhal Kottai (1996), Vaali (1999), Citizen(2001), Villain (2002), and Varalaru (2006). He is married to fellow Indian actress, Shalini.

Its time for ‘Thala’ fans to lionize ultimate star Ajith Kumar for he has been felicitated with MGR Award for the Tamil Nadu State Government Film Awards. Looking back to his paths of triumph, Ajith made his entry into World of Tamil Cinema as an ordinary artist and later of out of his striving hard work, genuineness and helping tendency, he has elevated himself to a great level in Kollywood cinema.

“Try not to be a man of success, but rather to be a man of value” said Albert Einstein and of course Ajith is a man of value. Apart from giving successful films, he has proved to be a man who gives respect to values for all beings especially for debutant directors. S J Suryah in an interview had recently said that it is because of Ajith, he is there today in the industry. Encouraging with high spiritedness, he offered him the chance to direct the film Vaali.

Without support of anyone he entered into film industry, but Ajith one thing with him and that’s self-confidence. Super Star Rajnikanth had commented the same statement on Ajith and he was one who gave an idea for Director Vishnuvardhan to cast him in the leading role for the remake of Billa 2007.

Vijay

Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar is an Indian film actor. Vijay began his career doing minor roles as a child artist in the Tamil cinema industry, while also attending a theatre for stage plays, to follow his dream to act. After five years of minor and unnoticed roles in Tamil language films, he gained Indian cinema’s attention in 1996 by playing the role of Raja in Poove Unakkaga.

His first blockbuster and since then Vijya has acted in over forty Indian films, with his main intention being Tamil language ventures, earning him the prestigious title of Ilayathalapathy in 1996. The title name is now mentioned in the credits of all his projects. Vijay is currently the third most popular Indian actor of Tamil origin in the world after, senior actors, Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth.

He comes from a family which has strong experience in the film industry. S. A. Chandrasekar, his father, is a popular director and mother Shobha is an accomplished playback singer. He performs predominantly in leading roles in high-budget and major studio films, ranging from romantic comedies and drama to science fiction and action thrillers. His most popular films include Poove Unakkaga in 1996, Kadhalukku Mariyadhai in 1997, Ghilli in 2004, and Pokkiri in 2007.

Vijay made his debut as a child artiste in the film, Vetri. His first film, as hero, was Naalaya Theerpu. Vijay hit films like Poove Unakkaga, Love Today, Nerrukku Ner, Once More, Kadhalukku Mariyadhai, Ninaithen Vandhai, Endrendrum Kadhal and Thulladha Manamum Thullum have, one after the other, helped him to establish himself as the next Tamil Super Star.

Vijay has also appeared in several commercials like Coca-Cola & Sunfeast Milky Magic Biscuit. Vijya is the youngest actor to have won the MGR award from the Tamil Nadu Government and Kalaimamani award. Kamalhasan

Kamal Hasan - one needs no introduction, though. Kamal is one actor the whole India is proud of. The debut, the personality, the versatility of skills, his films, the roles he played, performed and excelled, his achievements in every field he gets in are worth of appreciation, praise and are worth given an illustration. One has to consider Kamal as an actor, not an image because he just outclasses this so-called stardom and he feels and treats his profession as one of the fine arts. Kamal Hasan ia an actor of class, versatility and perfection who truly justified all the roles he did - from hero to villain, man to woman and a dwarf. Today, he is at a point where no one could reach him at all.

The greatest thing about Kamal Hasan is - he reached a point where one just can't emulate or imitate his dance, his delivery of words, his expressions, the way he presents and projects himself and above all, his acting capabilities and his skill which are a trademark.

Kamal Hasan is a bridge between a lot of things. He doesn't fit in one box or a category or a classification. After walking on Vani Ganapathi, he got married to actress Sarika who works as a costume designer for him in his films . In his films, the costumes designed from Sarika's galore are of such an importance that he looks just fit for the roles he plays in films keeping other actors out of his reach.

Kamal Hasan has not just acted in commercial films but in art films too - in fact, the number of art films are more than the commercial films that he acted in and all the glory he won is due in art films. Kamal works for no awards but for the cause of giving sort of an entertainment, joy and realisation to the indian population.

As a matter of fact, though he is there since his childhood, Kamal Hasan entered the industry as a classical dance director, then had his debut as a low-profiled hero maturing into an actor and finally turned out to be the producer-director-actor of historic movies, with the latest being "MurudaNayagam" which is believed to be in the final stages of making and released at the earlest. Kamal Hasan, thus in the long run, still remains and stands there.

Rajini Kanth

Rajini, the real mantra of Tamil Nadu. There are fan associations across Tamil Nadu dedicated to him. Many more than for any other Tamil star, past or present. Rajinikanth, the carpenter-turned-coolie-turned-conductor-turned Super Star says :“I couldn’t have asked God for more.”

A bit of a recluse, Rajni may be. But everyone who’s had the privelege of a darshan with the thalaivar has come away with a spring in his step and a warm glow in the heart. Warm, friendly and affable, he’s the sort who deserves all the superstardom he’s earned. Such men, indeed, are rare...

It’s been 25 years, believe it or not, since the Periya Thalaivar (big boss) made his debut with an inconsequential role in a Tamil film. From villain and antihero to blockbuster supernova, the gifted actor has made the most of every outing. And he’s deserved every bit of the success.

It's a wide angle shot. A man is seen opening a gate, dressed in rags and smoking a beedi. A terminally ill disease writ large on his face. Precisely on that frame appears the Sanskrit term shruthi bedham, coupled with an off screen voice, an undoubtedly inauspicious start to any debutante's first screen appearance, especially in the maiden frame.

The film was Apoorva Raagangal (1975). The film itself was thick in controversy, and nobody took notice of the young newcomer, who was on screen barely for fifteen minutes, muttered a few apologetic words to the wronged woman and ultimately died an unsung, unheroic death.

No one in the audience, even in his wildest imagination, would have thought this nondescript man, who had won the least attention in the film would ever win over millions of hearts in Tamil Nadu. Or ride the state like a colossus. Or even that his sway over the masses would be so intense that he could rewrite the fate of Tamil Nadu politics, exactly two decades after the release of his first film.

K Balachander, the director who has an uncanny knack of creating stars, first met Rajnikant at the film institute, where he was a student. Balachander glanced at the dark young man and crisply asked him to meet him in his office the next day. When Rajnikant walked into his office gingerly, Balachander informed him he was going to act in his next film. Overwhelmed by the sudden offer from a big director, Rajnikant just could not believe his ears. It's a feeling Rajni still recounts whenever in the mood of reminiscence.
